Smart Parking System
Microio’s “Demonstração do Sistema de Estacionamento Inteligente” was highlighted at Diário de Aveiro newspaper
Microio successfully completed the project SEI – Demonstração do Sistema de Estacionamento Inteligente, funded under Portugal 2020, with a presentation session at the Science and Innovation Park in Ílhavo at the end of last June .
The event featured strategic speakers from diverse areas of expertise as traffic, mobility and wireless communications, the University and the Telecommunications Institute of Aveiro, and with the presence of representatives from multiple municipalities and companies that could benefit from the system. The opening session was held by Professor Tiago Lourenço, Councilor of the Municipality of Ílhavo, where it was highlighted the importance of the association of municipalities to pilot technological innovation projects, namely in the addressed area, by the direct impact on quality of life.
Microio’s development strategy aims to strengthen its presence in the area of Smart Cities, aiming to provide technological solutions that enable greater interoperability, sustainability and quality of service to the cities and entities involved, and, consequently, a better quality of life for its inhabitants. Being the Parking system one of its priority areas and after the success of the test implementations in Lisbon, Torres Vedras, Águeda and Aveiro, Microio intended with the SEI demonstrator project to validate its solution in a greater scale and degree of complexity.
The Smart Parking system is a solution capable of detecting the state of occupancy of parking spaces, in a quick and efficient manner, through wireless sensors that are easy and fast to install. The sensors are suitable for public or private parks and can be placed indoor or outdoor. With the SEI project it was demonstrated the suitability of the solution for applications in an industrial and urban environment, through its implementation in the Bus Terminal of Aveiro, to control the parking of buses, and in the two main avenues of Praia da Barra: Av. João Corte Real and Av. Fernão de Magalhães, for presentation to drivers of their availability in informative panels, in order to support parking and reduce the traffic usually originated in their search.
